Jays le xl
« on: December 20, 2015, 12:12:37 PM »
Hello all new le xl builder here, I've built and sold a challenger 2 and this is my first plans build really looking forward to the build and while I normally wouldn't post a build this may be fun and provide me with meaningful feedback. Today I spent a couple of hours making a wing rib jig I used c-temp between the plans and the rib it shouldn't allow glue to stick to the plans or the wood below...I'll be using tightbond 3 on the ribs and t88 everywhere else.....gonna build ribs this winter and the tail then I will start on the fuselage in the spring.... I'll try to keep this updated once a week or so thanks!! Jay

No prebend. Just placed an extra block on the jig a couple inches out continuing the curve of the airfoil. Past where the main spar would be.

Yet another question for everyone, of those who have built and flown their leu, how many built their own engines vs buying one built?

I bought my original Legal Eagle UL set of plans (#147) in 1998.  Built the tail feathers had to stop then bought the plans for XL in 2010 and converted the UL parts to XL # A67.  Still building.  Haven't stopped since 2010.
