How many hours do you think it would take the average first timer to build the de or ce? Anyone know their own times?

We had a team of 4 -5 builders to fab. DE Stubby. Our initial goal was to have it taxiing in a year. We missed by a month or so. I have no idea of the hours spent. One guy welded the fuselage and did the wiring, two others (primarily) built the wing structures, I built the engine, tail feathers, gear and most all other parts. We all got together for covering and painting. However, no one spent all his time on the build, or worked on it every day.
Maybe that gives you some idea.
