Title: Wheelbase
Post by: Kiwi55 on April 15, 2016, 09:27:18 AM
I can find the track (distance between the two mainwheels) in the double eagle plans (77"), but I dont see the wheelbase (distance from the center of the mainwheels to the center of the tailwheel) anywhere. Does any body have that figure available?
Thanks...Paul

Kiwi, there could be some variance in that number, due to placement of the mains (straight gear, or the DeLoach gear forward mod) and of the tailwheel.  On our DE Stubby, our mains are 1.4" aft of the wing leading edge (when at backbone level attitude, as when doing weight and balance measurements), which is the DeLoach gear forward mod, and our tailwheel axle is at 158.8".  The distance between them is 157.4".

Hey Kiwi
i have a bit different than Tom
Mail Wheel 7.8 in in front of datum
Tail Wheel  162 in rear of datam

I used an RV4 tail wheel asy so that is why mine is a bit further back
I moved my mains forward a tad to give a bit more tail weight when taxing and works really well
mine is really easy to land and controllable and i also about 4in wider (wheel to wheel) and would
build the same in to another one again - i did use the design from the the DeLoach gear but with modifications
