Hi all
I am starting work on the ailerons, and I have a few questions.
First I'll refer to what I call the aileron cutout. This is the rectangular cutout in the rib where the aileron leading edge will fit. It is shown on page 38 of the DE drawings.
There are 2 parallel 1/4" vertical sticks which make the cutout. Where does the pivot point go in relation to the rear vertical stick? If I use a 3 5/8" cutout for the aileron nose rib, it will be located behind the rear stick. Is this correct?
Also, what should the clearance be between the front of the aileron nose rib and the rear of the front 1/4" stick? It is difficult to see from the video and not dimensioned on the drawing.
One last question. The 1/8" plywood aileron spar which is about 73" long. Does it need to be 1 continuous piece, or can I use 2 pieces?
Thanks
Pete

I spliced my aileron spars - the D nose makes it pretty strong
