Title: slick 2220 mag wires
Post by: Flyguyeddy on July 20, 2017, 08:41:29 PM
i need to know what everyone is using for plug wires or ends on the slick 2220 magneto.  the wire conversion guide doesnt apply to the 2220 as it has a different cap.  are you guys running ngk caps with the resistor shorted/replaced?  ive seen right angle boots on the mag itself, but no other pictures regarding it.

unless i can come up with some plugs for a corvair head that will work with the ends on the slick mag?  i believe the corvair is 14mm 1/2" reach, but i have no idea about the temp range or size of the fittings.

someone help me out here.  i posted here because nobody seems to be watching the ultravair subforum.

Not sure exactly what you are asking, but look at the attached file.  It shows how to use automotive wires on your Slick mag.  I did this on our DE Stubby and it works great, and reduces the ignition noise in the radio.

I used automotive ignition wires with the spiral core and noise suppression, don't remember the brand, but they were from AutoZone, and off the shelf.  The plug caps can be either straight or angled.

Hope this helps.

As i mentioned, that method does not work with the 2220 slick mag as the harness cap is totally different from the aviation units.

I got mine from Steve, Hummel Engines.

I could have made them but he makes them all the time so got them from him.
