Title: Case selection
Post by: okawbow on August 30, 2019, 07:22:56 AM
Tomorrow, I will be looking at a couple of 1600cc engine cases, and hopefully buying one of them.

What should I be looking for? How can I check to be sure the case is usable?

I bought what so far, looks like a good AE block. He threw in 4 dual port heads, 1 of which, or half of another, may be usable. Also got a good oil pump and a couple valve covers for $140.00 for all.

Haven’t found any cracks or damage to the block. It has never been bored, and the halves come together without any gaps.

I will be building a 37hp 92mm x 78mm.
Does anyone out there have extra parts from their build they want to sell?
(Or possibly, a 40 hp 92mm x 82mm)

Dont reuse oil pumps.  Just replace it with a new one.

Are after market oil pumps dependable? I’ve been told to use as many original German made parts as possible.

The important part of it all is use a steel cover plate or a gene berg bypass type iron unit.  Blueprint the oil pump you purchase
