Title: Fishmouthing questions
Post by: Sylvain on March 16, 2020, 04:47:20 PM
Hi Guys.
I am starting the build of my double eagle and I am working to acquire 2 not too easy new skills, fishmouting and tig welding.
For fishmouthing, I got a fishmouting tool that uses a hole saw. I have some 1.25 .035 tube to practice. I noticed that the 1.25 bimetal hole saw I use is slightly smaller then the 1.25 OD of my tube so the notched tube leaves a significant gap that needs a lot of adjustment. (The notched tube fits perfectly on the hole saw!)
I also noticed that my hole saw lost many teeths after just 5 or 6 cuts.
So, I guess there is an easier way to go. What method is the best for tube notching in your opinion?
