Title: Double eagle suspension spring preload.
Post by: Sylvain on March 14, 2021, 07:02:02 PM
I guys.
I am now making the spring suspension for my DE. The plans says to put ¾ in. preload on the spring. According to the spring specs, the spring compresses 39.2 pounds per .1 in. This translate to 294 pounds for .75 in.
For those who did it, How did it come out for you? Was the ¾ in adequate? Did you adjust?
Also, what method did you use to put the 294 pound of preload?

Thanks!
Sylvain.

Look and see how William Wynne does it on Pietpenol gear: https://flycorvair.net/2012/10/27/new-die-spring-landing-gear-on-a-pietenpol-10-a-m-4-p-m/
