Great news, just receive word the Verner 3V is back in production. Scale Birds is the place to contact for info or ordering
-
Les, I went to Scale Birds and their web site said "on hold" for both the 3 and 5. Did I miss something?
-
I received notification this week the 3V and small 5V are back in production
-
Both Scalebirds and Verner's web pages still say on hold but I suspect they have not been updated. Both are small operations so it is not surprising that the websites are not updated the instant something changes.

From feces book.. :P

I have a 3VLA (pictured below) on order. Does anyone have a picture of a mount for this engine?
-
I've not seen one yet.

I've cut *many* spark plugs apart to check fuel burn with various jetting. It is perfect at cruise, and weighing pounds of fuel at fill up averages 2.65 gph. I thought 2 gph on a carburated engine was awfully low.
My old friend Matco Man once told me, "salesmen have a license to lie."

Hi Chuck,
I read where you mounted your 3V 3" high for prop clearance and that you recommend future 3V installations to move the engine back a few inches for CG (on the XL). This brings up some questions...
Q: Instead of raising up the engine 3" could the landing gear have been extended 3"? I'm a bit OCD and would like to mount the engine centered in the firewall. Ha, doubt I'd care if it was a 1/2 VW.
Q: There realy does not seems to be any practical means to move the firewall back a few inches. So is the only solution to let the carb stick through the firewall? Have you calculad how many inches would be best (for your XL)?
Q: Is canting the mount something that you (others) are doing to offset torque?

I *did* extend the gear along with raising the thrust line. A 67" prop needs some serious clearance. A couple of inches should do the engine/firewall move, whether you shorten the distance to station 1 (shouldn't be a problem unless you have really long legs,) or stick the carb through the firewall inside a box. As far as I know, nobody has used down or left thrust on the engine. I *did* build in some eyeballed change on the vertical stab to counteract P factor/torque. I've always said I'd rather be lucky than good.. :) Bullet cruises feet off.
