Is this a 4AO 84 engine.Or does anyone know what it is.

I had one similar, but much smaller Continental that was used to drive a generator in a military power unit. (Lycoming also made them) They were typically single ignition variants, (A single spark plug on top of each cylinder), and weren't suitable for aviation applications, but made pretty good airboat power plants. If it has provisions for driving a generator I'd bet that's what it did. The one I had weighed about 60 or 80 pounds and looked like a miniature airplane engine. It had a single magneto built into the rear case and shielded ignition leads to the aircraft spark plugs. It had honest to goodness welded iron plumbing for exhaust pipes and sounded like a small Porshe when wound up. I had a lot of fun getting it running again back in my early twenties. I think I sold it for $80. Thanks for the memories!

That is NOT a 4a084.
