Title: B/S for the double eagle?!?
Post by: rki67 on April 24, 2023, 07:23:27 AM
For the single seater the BS23 is being introduced, but what about the 999cc of B/S, would that powerhouse be suitable for the Double Eagle with some work?!?

An 1835cc VW of 60 hp is considered the standard Double Eagle engine. How do you propose to get a similar amount of power out of a 4-stroke half that size? Even with a reduction drive I don't think the B&S 999cc could handle it. Also I imagine the cost of a modified B&S with reduction drive would be higher than an 1835 VW.

The 999cc engine flys well in the Cangoroo of an Argentinian gentlemen a two seater of his own design. Yes it uses a reduction drive of Ace Aviation I believe, so I thought if it fit that two seater I could do the same with the Double Eagle!?

Looks like you answered your own question. If the guy in Argentina has a plane the same weight as a Double Eagle you should be good to go.

But that craft is a tandem seater and they have only flat lands around them, so vertical speed is not so important.

What can the engine weight at max?
