I've got the plans for the XL, and have studied them and the 1/2 Dub plans to death. My problem is, I am between homes. I sold and moved out of my last one a month ago, and have had to wait a month to move into the new one. While in limbo, I drug out the CAD program and fiddled around (I'm a retired CAD Jockey and engineer from way back). Here is what I've come up with so far, just for fun.

One more image of the airframe. If you look too close, I don't have the cuts shaped and some of the tube lengths need some tweaking.
-
Fuselage looks nice. Don't forget the diagonal from station two to station one and the two down tubes (cabanes) from wing mount to upper corners of station one (firewall)
-
Cool. I did miss them, didn't I?
Thanks, Kamcoman.
-
Here ya go! ;)
-
Looks great! Only one more tube to go. Diagonal from dash to firewall opposite orientation from tube on bottom. I circled it in photo above.
-
Hmmm. If there is a tube from the seat back to the cluster at station 4, Bullet forgot to put tell me about it.. :)
-
I think that extra tube from the seatback is to prevent the seatback from buckling during rapid acceleration created by Verner 3-cylinder radials on takeoff. Probably a secret design feature.
-
:) Yeah, and don't forget the G suit..
-
Thanks guys. I guess I should've done a bit more studying and checking build pictures. I assumed the upper back bone went to the seat back. It did not. And I just missed the other stuff. Good thing I just did this "for fun". Ha!
Well, anyway, here is my updated design. ;-)

Great looking Legal Eagle XL fuselage!

Good drawing. Believe me, it is *easy* to miss something. I almost ran two tubes from the bottom longerons to the tailpost because that is just the way it is normally done. Nope. One tube as you have drawn it. Now.. you will be able to ask the computer just how long that particular tube is before sawing it too short. Again. :)

Great job! Wish I was that good with CAD... (BTW, check top forward rib gusset... should be aft one upright) NOT AT ALL CRITICIZING!LOVE your work, can't wait to see your build get started, with this much detail - it should be great!!!

Pappy, When are you going to make some more LE videos? I'm stuck on #07.
-
Working on #8 as we speak... Thanks for the poke... BTW, You going to make Leonard's June 10th or Oshkosh this year?
-
The plan is for me & another XL builder to attend Leonard's bash. Health issues with friend's wife may kill deal, but hoping to make it.
-
First of all, I pray your friend's wife will be feeling better soon & if possible, hopefully I'll see/meet ya both there...

Good catch Pappyadkins. I would've stumbled on it eventually, but your help is appreciated.😜👍🏻

NP... Are you planning to share these files? I would like to use them as a starting point for my x-Plane build... Of course I'd have to modify for the mods I'm making on my LEXL... ::)
-
About sharing the files...I may share them sometime, but I would have to put some serious caveats and disclamiers on them as most others do who share this sort of thing.
These are my interpretation of the plans, especially the wing rib. I studied leonard's printed plans very thoroughly, as well as other profiles shared on this site. I studied and plotted the Clark YM-15. I plotted all of these out, overlaid them, compared and modified with the focus on what I could ascertain Leonard was trying to show.
Concerning Leonard's plans, I had to deal with the copy/print scale discrepancies, both vertical and horizontal. I believe I have come up with the best CAD rendition of what Leonard was trying to convey, but since we are dealing with things that fly and can also fall, I can give no guarantee as to the accuracy and usability of my work for anyone else but myself.
The frame was much easier. Working with his measurements, I was able to get it pretty spot on. I still have to go over the actual tube lengths to make sure they can be cut and beveled to fit in good weldment joints.
I may share the stuff for study purposes only, but I'm not sure yet.
The nice thing about the airframe is when I am confident of the tubing length and locations, I can produce a cut list for the tubes as done in industrial weldment design.
😊👍🏻

So true... I also just thought about those out there that might grab the drawings & not pay for the plans... so probably not a great idea... but if you do, you can PM me & we can talk... I wish I could find the airfoil I found when I was working on my x-Plane build...Seems like NACA4414 or NACA4415 or something like that but I remember laying them over the one from Leonard...

I have some DFX files I have shared out on my sight - https://cloud.virtualmakerspace.com/s/6CiNKpPpFpWorwA (https://cloud.virtualmakerspace.com/s/6CiNKpPpFpWorwA)
