What is the width per plans of the hor stab and elevator? I am looking at storage options. Thank you
-
I have the plans stored away and am too lazy to dig them out.. but.. you can make them whatever (within reason) width you want.

An old set of LEU plans show about 85 inches.
-
XL plans show half a stabilizer at 44", So: 88" total

Im finding good deals on 7' x 16' enclosed trailers. Would a LEXL fit with the wings removed or folded? Total length of lexl from tip of rudder to prop ect. Thank you guys! As i have no where to store finding the proper size trailer is first priority befor i start building.

I doubt it. Maybe.. if you take the wings off, but it would be really tight. Check out Les Homan's trailing rig to get an idea of how much room you need.

Leonard has developed plans for folding the wing and horizontal surfaces. Go to single seaters on the forum tab and order the plans.

Chuck. Im looking to squeeze the total width of the hor stab under 7'. Looks like the length of one xl stab is about 42". Incluing what looks like about a 4 inch gap between the stabs in the fus tail."See pic". That makes a total width of 7.3'. If i shortend each stab 3 inches that would bring me just under 7'. Would 3 to 4" off each stab be "within reason"? Thank you very much fin gentlemen!

Leonard folds his... Wings as well. O:-)

Sure. You could add a little area to make up for it, but I'll bet it wouldn't make any noticeable difference. I still don't think you could get it into that trailer, though.

In Joe Spencer's YouTube video "PuttPutt, Up Close & Personal" Joe mentions he cut the width of his horizontal tail to fit in a trailer. He said the flight characteristics did not change. By the way, the drawing you show the span as 42-1/2" is of a Legal Eagle, not an XL.

Thanks so much guys. Im determine to squeeze this into a 7' trailer lol as you can see. I would just rather not have to build the quick foldable empennage. Removable yes, not foldable.
