On my first one, I just used a razor knife & straight edge, worked great... (Second one I made from 1 solid piece of metal & punched holes (sharpened 1" square tubing) drove into a 'receiver'... or one could drill holes, waiting to see someone try that...)
As far as length, make it extra long, you can also shorten... When I get home I can measure or I may have said how long in my video, don't remember.... < >

I know this is a very simple task, but still, I'm curious what you minalists out there have used to cut your sheet metal into strips for the seat. I don't have access to a sheer and don't want to cut the metal with manual snips but I see this at HF... https://www.harborfreight.com/power-tools/power-saws/metal-shears/5-amp-14-gauge-metal-shears-64609.html...another option would be to use the band saw however it's hard to keep long straight cuts. What are your recommendations? Secondly, and I'm just waiting for someone to say "follow the plans", is the seat strips (vertical) length in the plans taking into consideration the wrap around the tubes at the top and bottom. I fear cutting then finding the strips too short. Seems pilot size comes into play here. I'm not real tall (~5'10") but want to make sure I don't run out of head room and end up making the seat twice.

92mm bore, 78mm stroke, 37 hp is what most people rate this size engine. Mine has relieved combustion chambers, a non-stock camshaft, and higher compression than most 1/2 VW's (8.2:1). Once I get it broken in, I'll test the hp with a "wood bar dyno" club prop that is supposed to be able to show actual hp. I'm very curious to see what RPM the club prop will turn.

... prop carver so I can duplicate ... video
Enjoyed the video. Had no idea how simple (though labor intensive) making a prop could be. Thanks

I had received a quote from Prince back in December 2024. Here is what they had to say about a prop for the 3VLA engine. Thank you so very much for the inquiry we have manufactured many propellers for this engine but few for the 42 hp. Calculating for a Full Throttle Level Flight of 60 mph, 42 hp @ 2500 rpm the propeller size will be 67" diameter 29" pitch. The cost for our Wood P-TIP Propeller will be $1163.00. For the Better Performance Most Durable Carbon Fiber P-TIP propeller $1652.00. Optional Leading Edge Protection for either propeller will be $161.00. The propeller size can be adjusted for diameter size should it be longer than ground clearance allow.
The current delivery time is 10 months. A quick delivery option is available, 90 business day delivery with an increase cost of 50%.
BTW - I fly a Prince P-tip on a Sonex, it's been a very nice prop.

Looking at your heads. That's a good solution for the intake. It should be just fine for flow. What hp is your configuration supposed to put out?

I haven't drilled my heads for the second ignition yet, so my latest break-in test runs were with my programmable CDI ignition and Buick coil. Engine starts on third pull. CDI is French unit (Transmic.fr) that works similar to Leeburg. I can program my advance curve with a smartphone to whatever I like. Seems to work quite well. I haven't run engine over 2,500 rpm yet but will as soon as weather warms up. Using Champion extended nose plugs that seem to start easier than the standard Bosch or NGK units. Haven't messed with Mikuni jets yet but will after I get 10 hours on engine. My Mikuni VM26-8074 carbs came with 190 main jets.

My duplicator is a little more hi tech but does the same thing.

Great information. Thank you.
I'm going to be running the second set of plugs with a dyna coil for Harley Davidson. Sort of similar. The dyna doesn't run a separate brain for control. It just has two wires to the dual coil module. My 45 came with all the options. ( i bought it used with 50 hours.) It is tempting to take it all off and simplify the configuration but I'll try to make it work on the test stand first. It's got dual plugs, starter, flywheel with alternator and a magneto. It was originally on a hummelbird. The gentleman that had it had his canopy detatch in flight. He said that was enough for him so he decommissioned the airplane and sold off the parts.
thank you again
Jeff
