bob, we insure DE Stubby through the USUA/First Flight program. You will have to go to the USUA website to get all the info, but here are the basics:
- each pilot has to be a member of USUA (maybe $30/yr/each) Our aircraft is owned by a LLC, so the LLC has to be a member, also.
- USUA offers liability insurance for pilots for a specific aircraft, in this case for aircraft grossing 993-1150 lbs, cost is $484.10/year, covering two named pilots. Add'l pilot coverage is $86.52/ea named pilot/year.
- The pilots may have to submit some logbook data to show that they are qualified in the aircraft type. Sorta funny, but they wanted documentation from our over 30,000 hour retired Boeing 777 pilot. Reason is they wanted to be sure he was in touch with these small airplanes in recent years. He had no problem meeting that requirement.
Hope that helps.
