hey folks..........got a question/request. Can anyone tell me how much the DE wing weighs.......fully covered/painted/etc(minus fuel)......just prior to hanging it on the airframe?? I assume there is no appreciable difference between the left and right one. Thanks for any help in this query.bob

Boba, we did weigh our DE wings. In my minds eye, I can see us doing it. I know I wrote the info down. I thought I could give you a quick answer, but can't find it. If it turns up, I'll post it.

this is my theory, if you cut or bought timber to size of drawings, did as per plans, every one should be about the same
Now - what are you gunna do if they are a bit heavy ?
Just keep building, My plane is heavy - Toms is heaver than mine - Both fly ok - look at the performance stats we are putting up
The wings are the least of your problem
its what you add to the fuse and fire wall forward is were you should be planing about weight
with all the extra crap i put into mine i can still take 2 x 200lb people flying and have fun and be legal weight here
Well just a bit over

I appreciate the input on "keep building" (as I will)..............but the reason I NEED a weight is because I am dramatically modifying the fuselage, and playing with other stuff as well. Gotta do some math here to ascertain if the new weights/specs/etc will keep me within the cg envelope. I am not "over-thinking" the plans as they are...............just doing something else ENTIRELY. Thanks.bob

Well, prior to covering my Dub Eagle with fabric, wing made from fir, and ribs 3/8 instead of 1/4, with other additional bracing ( I know I'm not a purest), but that said the wing with alerion weighed in at 69lbs, sealed with sealer. I fudged the material because I'm hanging a C-85 on the nose. That's one wing.

OK Weighed the Left wing this morning
Metric 22.8kg
Imperial 50.26 pounds.
That is frame only with most fittings attached and no Varnish.
Grant (Mr G.) thanks that is not too bad. Not sure what is the ideal number. Be interesting to see how the right one turns out.
cheers Paul.

Boba65, just to let you know, I dug out all the documents on DE Stubby to look for my notes on the wing weight. No luck, sorry. I suspect I'll find them some day in the least likely place.
