Aileron hinge pin, is 3” long enough?
« on: March 13, 2024, 07:45:34 AM »
I’m just about to start making the aileron hinge blocks. If both hinge blocks are 1.75” tall and there’s also the plywood brace, wing rib width, aileron rib width and a .25” gap to allow for, how is a 3” bolt long enough to use as a hinge pin on the onboard end of the aileron?

3" isn't long enough for my XL. After I put everything together, I ended up using a 4" long bolt. It's a little long, but it works.

I forgot to hit post this morning.. ::)
You've answered your own question.  :) Fading memory thinks I used 4", but do whatever is needed.
