Decided that i will go with 1 inch 4130 with 1.2 mm thickness.
For what it's worth..
1 strut 1 dia. 4130X.062 wall= 3.97 lbs.
1 strut 1 1/4 dia.4130X .035 wall=2.9 lbs.
1 strut 1 1/4 dia.X .062 6061 aluminum= 1.75 lbs.
So you are looking a roughly 16 lbs.(!) with the 1 inch tubing for 4 struts..

Hello i mentioned that i will go with 1.2 mm that is .047 inch with 1 inch OD and it is not .062 inch thick. So with this when we calculate, the weight difference is not very huge. Secondly according to plans we need to use 1 1/4 inch OD tube shifting from 1 1/4 to 1 inch will also decrease drag to some extent and i think it will be stronger too.

Devendra has PMed me saying he can get 6063 T6. To me, it doesn't look strong enough. What do you guys think? *I don't know* just how much tensile strength is needed for these struts..

^^^^ Yeah. What concerns me is tensile and shear strength. As I said, I don't know what is required for those struts. In general, the Legal Eagle is over designed. Are the struts over designed, too? Dunno, and they are pretty important.. :)

Since the round struts are supposed to be 1-1/4" x 0.058" 6061T6 it looks like you would have to increase the wall thickness about 20% to get the same tensile strength. That would call for approximately 0.070" wall. Looks like 0.065" wall is closest in size at Aircraft Spruce. Next size up is 0.120" wall. Looks like Devendra needs to talk with an engineer to see if 0.065" x 1-1/4" 6063T6 would be OK.
