Finally! I haven't had much of a chance to work on my own plane lately. My family has been passing around a mean little bug. Throw in Spring break... and March is pretty much a bust for me. I haven't been completely idle, I did manage to get my timing gears lightened.....
I drilled six equally spaced holes in the big one and cut the face of both down a little. Don't worry, I remembered to transfer the timing marks before I cut. Also some long awaited parts started arriving back in March. First was my 92mm Nicom cylinders from Hummel Engines.
And then last week my DeMello crankshaft. 82mm stroke, chevy journals, counterweighted and balanced. Don't ask me how he gets in there to weld those counterweights on!
I also got my head from MOFOCO but it's out getting cut for the 92mm cylinders. The person I lined up to weld my heads after I cut them flaked out, so I have been practicing on several junk heads I have laying around. I won't show a picture of that yet as they don't look as good as I would like. The last test I did is completely functional, just not as pretty as I would like.
