Does anyone have a suggestion for seat belt type and attachment to airframe?

Charles:
Here's a Link to how I did the LE for a big guy in the original cab size: http://www.angoraaffaire.com/leu/id64.htm
With the XL it will be more straight forward...

Leonard finds FlyMart seatbelt hardware and sews up reclaimed autobelts to keep the finances in shape...

Speaking of Leonard reminds me that there are differences of opinion where the seatbelt shoulder harness fus attach should be... I preface the following remarks relating that a number of AV accidents result in spine compression injuries thought by some to be the result of improperly engineered retro fit shoulder harness systems... Leonard sees the harness fus mount to be high on the cab back-brace at the fus 3 cabane join... His theory is to assure no back or downward load on the pilot's shoulders, just to keep the pilot from going head first into the instrument panel or the end of the control stick... Well, you say; how does it work and now I get to the good part of the story...

Not reading all the way down on his in-cab check list to "Check gas valve"- he flew a demo flight most the way down the 4k GoodFella strip and the engine stopped because the gas valve was not fully on... Noticing a space between two hangers to a suitable tiedown he past by the plans prospect, ran out of elevation /airspeed, arrived  flipping the LE prototype on her back... Dusting himself off after figuring out how not to unbuckle and fall on his head he sold a set of plans to the prospect and headed to the hospital to get a cut on his leg attended to - I've never had the nerve to ask Ed Leugemors  if he was the plans buyer...

So endith a piece of LE history,
Steve

Here is how the FAA states shoulder harnesses should be configured according to AC 21-34, page 20:

The complete circular can be found here:

http://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/advisory_circulars/index.cfm/go/document.information/documentID/22261

Based on that info and every set of instructions I have seen for harness installation in race cars, this is how the harness is attached in XL-58:
