Aeroinjector from Aerovee

I'm theory crafting my hopefully future Legal Eagle XL...
Has anyone ran an aeroinjector from Aerovee conversions on their 1/2VW? I like the simplicity of the design.
They've got a snazzy throttle quadrant to match as well...

Consider...

This "carb" has no float bowl and thus no needle valve to shutoff fuel.  Thus you have to always remember to do that yourself otherwise you pour/drip fuel out.

Apart from metering air and fuel into the engine a carb also changes the fuel from a liquid into almost a gas form.  It "atomizes" the liquid gasoline.  Liquid gasoline really does not burn all that well but atomized gasoline burns VERY well.  Carbs use several tricks in combination to accomplish atomization including air bleeds and vacuum/pressure changes.  It is unclear if this carb has any kind of air bleeds and lacking a venturi it will not have a pressure change either.  The result is fuel arriving into the combustion chamber in larger drops which may not ignite nor burn as well.  This may be even worse at slow speeds so I might think hand propping to be a problem.

I with several VW  & posi type experienced EAAr's could not get it to work.  This was back in 2005. So along time ago. Scott provided the aeroinjector with the engine.  I had long induction tubes originally with this "carb" mounted below the engine.  And with no cowl, it was pretty much out in the breeze which probably it doesn't like?  My unit was to have the throttle/slide freeze fix, but that's the problem in flight that would occur...along with surging RPM's.  Ran smooth as could be on the ground even up & down once over a low-RPM range.  As I recall we exchanged jets, and needles up and down to no resolution.  JM didn't want to work with me from a support stand point, got defensive, no help there... so, I changed to the dual Mikuni's directly attached...and that was easy, worked from the first installation.  More power than I ever saw with the first two flights with the aeroinjector, and in retrospect flights that most would say maybe I shouldn't have even rotated skyward. Scott was his typical great individual..a stand up guy, he replaced the aeroinjector with the oldie but goodie carburetor...but I committed to Mikuni's and never tried that...still have the carburetor in the original box.
