datum point

another silly question about the upcoming "cabinEagle"......Anybody happen to know location of the datum(for weight/balance). Im really hoping that the plan roll-out happens soon.....I KNOW there is a lot of anticipation regarding this craft. Leonard set a pretty high bar, and actually accomplished it. Kudos for this one!....thanks guys

Hi guys
The cabin Eagle has another set back as the can shaft developed a round lobe two of the valves weren't moving.  Have fixed things and the engine is back on the plane. but flying before Oshkosh is doubtful. as I leave next Thursday. The plans are 99 % Will get with the program right after Oshkosh.    Leonard

You can locate the Datum anywhere you want. Get a book on weight and balance and study up about it.

I am aware that you DO NOT know me......I am a retired Airline Mechanic,current aircraft owner and 5 time builder(just never built a "cabin-eagle").....I have been an A&P, an I.A., and have a science degree and business degree. YOU NEED TO understand that a datum point CAN be anywhere....HOWEVER, it's NOT the mechanic's job to determine WHERE THAT DATUM POINT IS.....The aircraft builder, or designer.establishes the official datum point.......perhaps YOU should get some education my friend.....no offense meant,

Tjeschke......I will help you......according to ASA fourth edition,"Dictionary of Aeronautical Terms".as quoted verbatim........"An imaginery vertical reference plane, or line chosen by the aircraft manufacturer , from which all arms used for weight and balance computation are measured".

comment modification.............while the FAA will consider YOU the "aircraft builder/manufacturer".........I feel that Leonard has ESTABLISHED a datum for this craft, and, silly me I have ALWAYS followed the criteria set forth by McDonald Douglas, Boeing, Embraer, Beechcraft, Cessna, and a host of others. The actual designers.
