Hi Guys,

im Hermann from north Italy, sorry for my bad english, sometimes feels like without good manners, but thats only because i ty to say it with my few english words and so its focused to the esentials.
Here in Europe (North Italy) most tools are totally different brands you have in us, and all in metric size. Same for the torch, thats my one in the pic.
Its a small one but compared to the popular torch most of people used here for the frame, seems strong enough.
This was a cheap buy and there is not much data about but i found something: with the original nozzle of 0,8mm its 70 liters per minute and there are some other smaller nozzles like 0,5mm and 0,25mm, even bigger ones like 1mm
What you think about it ?

Than i have a question about the tubes for the frame:
i want to use metric sizes, it means that the 0.625 x 0,035" tube in metric is not 15,875mm x 0,889mm but 16mm x 1mm
and so on for the other sizes. Someone maybe are a little smaller in outher diameter but mostly with ~ 10% thicker walls.
Probably the whole frame gets ~10% heavier, but weight is not a problem, dont need to stay into part 103.

Why not use full span ailerons ? Is it a weight question ?
I like the Minimax wing.

I guess I will be the first to respond, and this is only my thoughts. 

I am going to follow Leonard's plans because they work, they are simple, they are cost effective, and they can be reproduced reliably.  I have considered many changes/modifications to the original plans. I do it sometimes for fun, sometimes for a mental exercise, sometimes just to use my engineering education. Plus, it often leads to great conversations on this forum. 

But in the end, I am going to keep it as true to plans as possible. I am going to try to keep the weight down. And finally, I am not sure anything I do to change the design is going to be an improvement. The 1.5 kg extra for disc brakes is already causing me agita!

I weld with a small Smith's torch, I have 4 tips  AW 201, AW203, AW205, AW207 and one more which is even smaller but was manufactured by another company and I don't have solid info on it beyond it is my smallest  It is called a smith #2. That is not a smith size. But it is high quality and it works. 
 Your 0.8mm would match up to my AW203, a meco N midget 1.5, and the midpoint between the victor J #00 and #0 or the harris 1 and 2.
It should be a good size for your 0.1 mm wall thickness. 
  My AW201 is 0.660mm, 0.7mm would be another choice. I will probably weld everything with the AW201 and AW203.
You can probably use your 0.8mm for everything as it is slightly smaller than my AW203 = 0.813.

I'm from Europe too (Poland) and i have the same problem with tubing. Additionaly I can't find source of 25CrMo4 in Poland - I found internet stores located in Holland or Czech Republic. Could you write please, where you will buy the tubing? Is it internet store?

thank you for helping. I compared the nozzles to europe standards and im sure now the torch is strong enough.

I found a source near the Milan airport and was written a mail 2 months ago.
They have 25cromo4, dont remember if only metric but if you dont need to stay in 120kg class, for the 5/8 x 0,035 you can easily use the 16mm x 1mm.
The frame its finally probably 1,5 kg heavier but stronger too.
Most of the frame is build with that size.
