LEXL Horizontal stabilizer angle of incidence
« on: January 13, 2018, 05:58:16 PM »
What’s a good starting point for the angle of incidence for the horizontal stabilizer. I haven’t found anything in the plans.

Go to:  Search on the menu line (at the first page of this web site) and click on search (not the forum buttontype in the search box Horizontal Stabilizer ......  press the search button.

I tried that before posting the question with no results,
Apparently there is a difference in the various search functions in the forum software.
If you are on a particular board (XL) in a particular category (Air frames) and sub category (Single Seaters) and type your query into the search box in the upper right on the page, you only get a search on that particular board.

However if you do the same thing after hitting the Forum button on the main menu you get results from all areas.  Also there is a dedicated Search button on the main menu.

At any rate, here is your answer...

Ed, the referenced page indicates that Leonard says to build it level.  Good starting point, but it seems that I have seen many times that eventual adjustment is to lower the leading edge.  We had to do that on LEU Treehugger and DE Stubby.  So, I would suggest to start with level, but allow for eventual adjustment to lower the leading edge.

Thanks for the info Tom, I plan on building in -3 degrees then shim it up to level, that should give me plenty of adjustment.
