Time for some updates - Control changes
« on: March 29, 2017, 05:57:22 AM »
I thought it might be time for some updates.
Overall I'm making good progress even though the last few months have been a bit slow. The fuselage is pretty much all welded except the engine attach points (I'm still deciding on an engine). Last weekend I cleaned up and primes the fuselage rear of the firewall.
I made a few changes to the controls. Like some others I decided I preferred control rods for the elevators rather than cables.
I also found after I had built the seats and sat in the cockpit that the control stick was too far forward for comfort.
I put a second tube at the same level as the one the front of the seat mounts to across behind the seats.
I then mounted the control stick on top of these bars between the seats so that it sits at about the level of the bottom of the seats.
I then put the control rod for the elevators below the bar. (So control rod for ailerons is on top of tubes, control rod for elevators is below).
I 'll have to get some better pic;s of the control stick and modifications, I have attached a couple showing the elevator control rods (obviously not complete in these pics)
