I presume your asking, wondering if this is enough?   The roll pin is in shear only...and that shear strength is well above what is required to hold such a piece in place. Mostly because the axle has very little transferable forces in or out.  and the socket (tube) carries the load.   

Another way to look at this, is that most wheels are held onto the axles with just a few threads of the nut.  Even on planes 4-5 times the weight.

I guess I'm more concerned about continuing building the landing gear without having the axles.  I haven't placed the order yet due to lack of funds.  I do have all the tubing to complete the landing gear now.  Once I do receive the BlackMax axles/wheels/brakes etc. then I figured I can mock up the components and at that point drill the hole through each 3/4" tube and axle to secure them. Yes?

At 3/4-0.062 You will, in theory, have 0.001 of an inch in play. It may be a bigger problem getting them in than any concern of the axles falling out.
It's too bad reamers are so expensive because this is a good place to use one.

ahh, now I see what your doing and about the question...    I would strongly suggest to drill the hole first, for the roll pin, before putting this tube with (welding) all the other landing gear.  But only for one reason.

It is so much easier to have the tube, up on your drill press, to center the hole and drill it through "centered" than to build your gear, and then drill later on.  Though the latter, certainly can be and has been done well enough.    Just more precise with the single tube for each side.

That being said, if you have a center drilled V block that you can clamp into place... you can do anytime.   Good question 914Pete!   The reamer point is good, hopefully a local machine shop would loan you a reamer after welding... or take the gear to them... it takes but a few minutes with a bit of oil.   A good place for anti-seeze too!

Thanks Scott.  I was concerned having the axles in hand was required before moving forward.  I do have centering blocks and a decent drill press.  I've had to take the last 3 months off the build due to rotator cuff/bicep surgery and am eager to get going again.
