Cabin Entrance Strut
« on: April 06, 2018, 11:26:49 AM »
Has anyone modified the entrance for easier in/out? I watched a video of a test pilot exiting the cockpit and he struggled to tuck then swing his legs out.
I can think of two solutions, the first would be to replace the triangulation with something else with similar strength. The other would be to hinge the tube on one end so it could swing out of the way and then swing back for flight. Blue line in picture is the tube I'm referring to. Thanks.

It is a little tricky climbing in and out of my XL fuselage. Not impossible though.  My question is, are you building the LE not the LEXL?  My XL plans don't show adding "straps" to the fuselage as shown in your picture.  It even looks like there is detail of said strap at the top (cut off) of your plans.  Wondering  why they have been omitted from the XL plans.  Sorry, a little off topic.

I don't have plans yet, that's a screen grab from a YouTube video. They may  be dated plans. I'm considering the XL, need the leg room and the extra gross weight.

Perhaps a heavier tube wall on that diagonal or another 1/2" tube from the midpoint to the station 3 cluster  bottom. That way you can trust the tube to hang your rear on as you get in and out
