Update on the Verner 3V. I have over 56 hours on my 3V and Burt, the third Legal Eagle to fly with a 3V has over 11 hours on his.  Both Burt and I have changed to the Mikuni Carbs, although i am using a VM-26-606 and Burt is using a TM-28.  The reason i changed is wanted to eliminate the fuel pump and could not get the Walbro-37 to consistently idle at 600 rpm or lower, plus could not get top end to adjust correctly, best fuel burn, gph was about 2.8 to 3.0. It has taken a while to get the Mikuni VM-26-606 dialed in but yesterday at 2050 rpm for 1.5 hours used 3.1 gallons or 2.1 gph and on way back at 2150 rpm for 1.2 hours used 2.84 gallons or 2.4 gph. This is better than the 1/2 VW.  If you measure actual dbA in cockpit the 3V and the 1/2" VW are very close to same but the 3V sounds like a tractor engine, just doing it's job with out being in a hurry and the 1/2 VW is turning a low faster.  It takes a while to get used to the 67" prop turning out in front as compared to the 54" prop. A lot of propeller disc area.  The thrust of the 3V is considerable more and is noticeable in all phases of flight. It is nice to have an engine that does not leak oil anywhere.  When flying ORV it performs very good, when flying with Burt and his Legal Eagle, weights of aircraft area almost the same, engines are the same but Burt weights about 100 pounds less than i do.  I climb on a good day 650 fpm Burt Climbs over a 1,000 fpm.  He out runs me be a considerable speed. With the light weight flying machines difference in weight is very noticeable. Being heavy it flys great but being light it really performs.  Build light and eat less, best advice.  I still have the starter on my eagle but intend to remove after we fly at Kittyhawk, have about 3 miles of water to fly across and want every advantage i can get until after this.  The engine starts very easy by hand proping, cold or hot. Still working on a method to store wheel chocks on board after hand proping.  With the 3 Verner 3V engines we have a combined total of over 110 hours of run time. I have been experimenting and testing various mounts and believe have a good mounting concept. These engines do not vibrate more than the 1/2 VW, but they have a shake zone of operation from about 650 thru 1300 rpm, above 1350 they are smooth and at normal operating RPM 1,700 to 2,500 they are as smooth as you could wish for.

Update on the Verner 3V Radials on the Legal Eagles. Burt has about 93 hours on his at this time and i have 87 on mine, ORV.  Engines doing good. I have fine tuned Mikuni VM26-606 carb and at 2050 rpm, with 67x30 prop getting same speeds as with the 1/2" VW but using 2.1 gph in place of 2.4 gpm. Burt, his weight is 100 lbs lighter than mine, flys at 1750 at 1.1 gph.  Little slower but all is well.
