single seat
« on: July 19, 2018, 08:23:56 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has built a DBL Eagle as a single seat? I'm a big guy....6'1" 290 and was thinking that may be better for me then a xl. Any thoughts on this ?
Thanks

Building a double eagle is your best bet.  The LE empty usually will come in at 254 with diligent effort and 5 gals. of gas brings the weight 284.  Then adding you at 290 lbs. will put you right at the 575 gross design weight of the air craft if you had a few extra nickels in your pocket.  You would be much happier with the double eagle and very easily be made for a single person and carry the weight and height of a larger person.

The biggest issue i find. we do a lot of formation in mine with up to 2 other planes and you have a lot of blind spots
so you would have similar sitting in the centre, i would drop some perplex into the two side behind you , even to the TEE mod
for the wing attach to be able to look up, the bit you will be happy with way less wind in the centre - were i sit in a nav flight
bar that me and my daughter come in about you weight and it flies great you will be happy
