Cut case 1/2vw manual?
« on: December 09, 2019, 09:56:53 AM »
Hi Fellas. I have a cut case 1/2vw. I was told its a Casler built engine? I'm not sure if a complete manual was provided when these engines were built. I know nothing about these engines and was wondering if manuals were available, if anyone has one they wouldn't mind copying for me. I would be happy to pay for the paper and postage. Or better yet, scanned and emailed. Looking at it, I'm not even sure where case oil is added, what type of oil and capacity, (I use Amsoil for everything), what type of fuel is recommended etc. It came with an oil temp sensor which has a rather large fitting on it. I'm not sure where that gets attached. The small fitting on the left side top front of the engine happened to be the right size for the oil pressure sensor, I'm assuming that's where that gets attached. There's two smaller 1/4" hoses attached to fittings on top of the engine and attached to a pipe coiled around the intake Y pipe. Not sure what that is for. There's a black cover with a yellow capped tube on top of the engine, not sure what that's for but having a removable cap, I'm assuming something get attached to it. There are several covers around the engine I assume were for things removed/not needed for the conversion. I'd kinda like to know what "use" to be in these locations. There is a small hole in the back of each exhaust pipe. Where's the oil filter? I was told this was an engine bought for a project but never made it out of the original shipping crate. It was stored in a temperature controlled room but no idea for how long. I haven't put a wrench on the hub nut and turned it through a full stroke yet but the crank/pistons seem free as I was told. (I need a prop) I'm going to scope the inside where ever I can find access to peek around a bit prior to going any further but I have it set up on a run stand and would like to start it sooner then later. Its set up with a bed mount, which I think I can make a proper engine mount for my XL but am thinking maybe making a new rear plate for a radial mount. Has anyone done this? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
