Howdy,
I've seen the legal eagle advertisements for years but never gave it much thought. I recently moved to the Houston area and attended the first EAA chapter meeting they had since the pandemic started, with the intention to get involved with the local chapter. That weekend they were having a get together at a local private field 5 minutes down the road from my new home. I attended with my family.
A delightful fella sat next to us and engaged my family and as introductions were made and discussion passed from one topic to the next I found myself in conversation with a homebuilt celebrity, Mr. Leonard Milholland himself. After that day I looked more into the eagle and was very pleased to discover the XL and several youtube videos showing it off.
Well, long story short Mr. Leonard had offered for us to bring our 14yo lad down since he wasn't able to make the fly in and give him the grand tour of his Eagles and "airplane factory". I called him up last weekend and we took him up on his offer. He was a gracious host and helped to foster an even deeper passion for airplanes in the boy. Needless to say a signed copy of the XL plans followed us home!
We are still in the process of cleaning out the garage from the move, but now we are looking at it as prep for airplane building instead of a dreaded chore!
