List of AD's anywhere ?
« on: December 06, 2016, 09:31:31 AM »
Does anyone know if there is a list of AD's posted for the LE XL?  My drawings for the XL show the vertical stab leading edge as 1/2" but does not state what material. The trailing edge is 3/4" but does not state what material. The narrative part of the plan set states that all tubing in the tail surfaces are aluminum, yet I remember seeing someplace on the website that Steve Kilblinger ( hope I got the spelling right, Steve ) says that the leading edge of the vertical stab should be changed over to 1/2" 4130 steel. Thanks.

4130 in the empennage is for high HP (45 & up) on the LE and XL... Leonard does not support the high HP mod... It is important to understand the mechanics and tensioning of the empennage cables and follow best practices making the gusset/tubing joins...

AD's as such do not exist in Part 103... Notices from the designer/ builders and flyers do and are published from time to time here in the Forum... Early XL plans had some glitches and a notice file is located here: http://www.eaglersnest.com/forum/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=152

I think this is a great thing that Dave brought up.  And if I read this right, it has been looked at a total of 10 times and downloaded only 3 times.

And yes, if you want to get technical, we could say they don't really call them AD's But on the other hand a notice is a notice   I was once very involved with another aircraft, and the notices were given out only on a call by call basis. Heaven forbid that "a change" be published. (it took about 7-8 years, but it finally changed)   In the end, it really bites the actual plane and designer. No matter how good it is. (or was thought to be)

Good job Dave!
