The Texas Super Eagle boyz never post here... You might contact Joe Spencer via private mail as he has spent some time with them at Osh and may have a current addr...

I do know that they moved the battery to a position on the bottom of the fuselage to get the right CG...

Frank Johnson is currently building an XL with the Continental 0A084 that weighs 125 lbs and will deliver an honest 40 Hp with the correct prop... A 40 hp XL will more than handle your critical mass... The power of numbers works in your favor when more than one person is going the same direction plus the 0A084's are an inexpensive fast conversion...

Lighter is better...

Perhaps you will want to buy the Double Eagle plans and compare.  I doubt the engine mount needs more beef.  The wings and tail would seem the most likely to need it.

New Pilot..?  Landing gear to Double Eagle plans definitely...

Hi macca; We fitted a 1600cc VW conversion to our XL Eagle and it flies very well with this engine. The aircraft will run at Vne with 3100 rpm as can bee seen from the pix included [I hope] We fitted the battery under the seat and have a Team Aircraft 20ltr plastic fuel tank in the wing. Prop fitted is a Frank Johnson's Performance Propeller of 60" D X 24" pitch.
Hope this is of some to you! Rgds Terry Smith [TezzaT]
