seat mod for taller pilots
« on: April 02, 2014, 07:55:46 AM »
I think I found a solution for head/control stick clearance. I had raised my top wing attach points 1", but once I put in the 36" aluminum strip seat my head hit the top bar. I increased the length of the strips two inches to gain some head clearance, but then the seat bottom rubbed on the control stick tube.
I welded in a cross tube at station three one inch lower than the cross tube at station two. I now have about 3 1/2" head clearance, and 3" clearance from the bottom of the seat to the control stick tube.  The seat in the photo is strictly temporary for testing purposes only. I will build a strip seat. It was a cheap way to see how you will really fit in the cockpit.
