Low oil temp

Testing and test hoppd my XL last night and still after 1 hour of run time my  oil temp still hardly off peg at 100 degrees. The temp port is on the side lower area of the oil sump at lower right when facing the engine. (Mosler 37 hp)  Does the temp go up that much when flying around at 3000 rpm?  I have a long way to go to 160-180 degrees.
Thinking of maybe an aluminum pan to cover bottom couple inches of oil sump, read that someplace to boost temps I think.

My oil temp does not go up much unless it is very warm outside and i am running 3000 rpm or so.  if it is 80 degrees and i am at power for short periods of time 100 degrees would not be out of the normal.

The plane has to be flown for awhile before oil temp will come up.

Solution to your problem---fly the plane.

did I see someplace guys were running 2 qts vs 2.5 to boost temp a little?

I never saw much over 150 so I removed the gauge.  

Two quarts is what the Casler engine runs. Valvoline 30W VR1 racing oil is a good choice to keep the flat tappets happy (high zinc content).
