Flying XL with a 4A084 engine
« on: September 13, 2015, 11:33:15 AM »
Any known video of a flying XL with a 4A084 engine? How much success has there been with this set-up? What kind of adjustments had to be made to accommodate the engine installation. (mods) Sorry for the double post. Figured more people would see it and it does involve two areas of the forum. XL's and 4A084 engines.

Thanks,
 Bill

I have not seen any flying videos or pictures either. You will need to strip the motor down, and build yourself a bed motor mount. No mods are needed on the fuselage but this will make an over weight ultralight. If I knew I was going to use this motor I would have done what Frank suggested and use steel for the tail instead of aluminum. As it is I will likely need to add a few pounds to the tail for balance. Maybe I will cover the tail for added weight, does anyone know how many pounds it adds? I am also trying to come up with a good carb heat setup because of the single top mount carb.

According to most people I've asked the dry weight is anywhere from 125 to 135 lbs
