My reaction was "that's crazy". But after sleeping on it , no more maybe less so than what happens in the X-Games or even some events in the winter Olympics.
I don't see myself ever doing this but I would rather parachute than have a motorcycle land on me in a pile of dirt. There is sort of a "RESET" button in that parachute that doesn't exist in some of these other "sports".The big danger, like aviation in general, is take off and to some degree landing Once you gain altitude to deploy a chute it's not so scary. That altitude separates the crowd from the action and the need for a tow plane jacks up the expense. I don't see it as a spectator sport but wouldn't be surprised to see it at an airshow.
So what we need here is a wing board pilot controlled tow drone and a big buck sponsor. How many energy drinks can they sell? Well there is a bigger markup over the regular soft drink can of chemicals
