Gusset size and engine mount
« on: November 16, 2017, 04:49:52 PM »
Well, it’s back to building. Getting ready to mount my Lycoming 0-145. I was wondering about raising it up above the thrust line to create more room for a longer prop. Has anyone done this and how much did you raise it?  Also, I was wondering about the thickness of the ply used for the gussets for building the ribs. There seems to show two different sizes on the plans. I was looking at 1/32. Larry

My 2 cents on the thrust line
If Lennard did his job right its where its supposed to be, you change more than just height it also affect power on and off situations
Extend the landing gear a hell of a lot easier

Hi Gussets are made from .8mm ply wood as is the nose covering.   Leonard
