Propeller selection
« on: February 15, 2018, 11:27:26 AM »
I seen it somewheres on the web of how to select a propeller for my double eagle. I will be using a Lycoming 65 horse. 2550 maximum rpm’s and I have 60 inches to work with for prop diameter. My question is, what kind of pitch should the prop have.  There must be some kind of calculator on the web. I seen it but I can’t seem to find it anymore.

32" of pitch should work good for the DE. At 2550RPM you should see 75 mph or so.

The problem is 60" diameter, to take full advantage of the low RPM engine i would recommend extending you landing gear and possibly raise the thrust line a bit. The props i make for VW powered DEs are typically 60-62" dia. And the VW turns up to 3600RPM

Call me if you have any questions.
