gy6 magnetic rotor and stator

has any one put a gy6 scooter or motorcycle rotor and stator INSIDE a full case 1/2 vw? can this be done? thats a light weight alternator for about $100.00
i figured the rotor could bolt to the end of the crank and the stator could bolt to a bracket to hold it in place.

it will be hot and in a significant oil mist. I am not familiar with this unit and have no idea where it normally is located or can withstand being bathed in hot oil

This is apparently it...  Does not seem to be designed to run in oil.  You may be able to rig it to run outside.

There used to be a Leburg ignition  setup for vws not sure if they had an alternator.  Steve Kiblinger has it on his.

This idea has crossed my mind also, I know the Harley stators run in oil....

i saw some where that some one had mounted one on the front of the engine just behind the prop. i might see if i can do this. i might just go total loss method. if this wont work.

How about placing the alternator at the rear of the case on the out board side.
You would have to come up with a driveshaft independently supported and located off
of the bell housing. you drive it off of the rear of the crank using some type of coupler,
possibly a lovejoy.
This would allow you to use a conventional VW ignition system powered by a gel cell
battery.
