New XL build in Illinois
« on: July 08, 2020, 12:31:23 PM »
My name is Will and I have just finished printing up my plans and ordered a kit for my wing ribs from John Bolding. It is gonna be a long process as I am a broke college student but I hope to be doing taxi tests within 3 years.

Welcome aboard!  You'll find lots of help on this forum. I just finished building 4 wings and besides my own, there are a number of posts pertaining to wing construction which have lots of tips and techniques. Don't hesitate to ask questions. Enjoy the ride!

Rick

Welcome to the Eagler's Nest. I am also building an XL. I found the supplemental plans pages sold by Iron Designs to be very helpful. There is a full size wing rib and several other full size drawings of gussets and aileron parts. One thing to note.... if you use Leonard's full size wing rib it does not exactly match the one from Iron Designs. The primary difference between the two is the aileron to wing gap closure design. Pick one or the other and stick with your choice. The photo is of an Iron Designs rib.
