Washers for shock struts
« on: November 17, 2020, 07:10:53 AM »
Just wondering what washers builders are using for the shock struts (spring retainers) on the XL landing gear. Is there a suitable item available online or is it simpler to just cut them out of 1/8” plate?

I cut them out of 1/8 plate. I used a holesaw and the drilled the center hole to fit.

Thanks Paul,
I don’t have the springs yet, what outside diameter did you make them?
Regards,
Shay.

For the springs I got my OD was 1 3/4" (But I'm building the heavier Cabin Eagle)

I went ahead and cut them out of 1/8” plate. They’re not perfectly round but I think they’ll do. I’m wondering if anyone welds both sides of the washers?
