**** Double eagle seat too short WARNING ****
« on: February 09, 2021, 04:47:48 AM »
Hi Guys.I built both of my seats as per plans, 40" long. I recently installed them on my frame, riveting to install as long as possible and installing blocks to simulate rudder pedals having a place to stand my feets They are really too short, I sit on the edge, like on a slide that pushes me forward. really impossible to consider flying like this.I'm 5'10" 175 pounds, quite standard build and I don't think no type of body can even minimally comfortably fit at 40" long. I made some tests and they need to be at least 2 to 3 inch longer to be minimally adequate.
I advised Leonard to suggest changes to the plans and to warn builders.

I had the same problem with my XL build following the plans. Same size 5'10" 180. Felt like I was sliding forward. I ended up splicing in 6 more inches but will probably end up making a new one.

I made some tests and will add 5 inches and a bar attached to the lower bar of station 3 to give a shape and support to the seat. Great improvement over the Hammock shape.
