CABIN vs DOUBLE EAGLE
« on: May 11, 2023, 02:02:49 PM »
Ready to order a set of plans....I think
Trying to decide between either the Double Eagle or the Cabin Eagle
They look very much the same.
Seems the Cabin has folding wings and weights a bit more with longer wings.
Is there other differences anyone knows about?

Did this ever get answered?  I've been curious about this myself.

I have a set of plans.  The wings do fold but not the way the others do.  The fold it is located on the rear strut. I do not have double eagle plans so not sure about exact differences between the two but I believe the wing is basically the same but maybe a little longer.

Other major difference is the fuel tank it overhead, centered in the cabin - allowing for folding with and not having to worry about fuel in wing tanks.

The design of the seat is different from the LE and is adjustable to some extend but that may be something the double eagle has.

Aileron uses torque tubes

I think other than that it is a fairly standard LE

You could buy both sets of plans, or one plan package and just the plans for the "other" LSA, that way you could see all the differences.  Consider it cheap research.  I did this for the LEU and LEXL as well as buying Scott's wing supplementals and I'm glad I did.  Where one plan was unclear the others helped clarify.
