Legal Eagle Spredsheet
« on: September 19, 2023, 06:45:02 PM »
Hello Eaglers!
Has anyone published a spreadsheet on the speeds of a typical Legal Eagle? I think I would like to see one with following information:Roll out and takeoff speed, cruise speed, stall speed, approach speed, Landing speed, top speed. I realize these speeds are "AVERAGE" and there a thousand varibles such as weights, Horse power etc.It would be nice to read one and get an idea of V speeds. Once my eagle leaves the nest and takes flight, I would like to have an idea of the speed range.
Thank You!
Tony

You might be overthinking this a tad.  :) Like a Cub, it does everything at one speed. Don't need no steenkin airspeed indicator, it's a seat of the pants stick and rudder ship..
I didn't have an airspeed indicator or tach for my first flights. No problemo.
Ok ok, FWIW, mine stalls at 25, cruises at 65. I glide at 50, give or take so there is plenty of energy for flare. You don't want to drop it in and take a chance on bending the delicate landing gear. Best rate of climb? Hard to measure when you don't have an altimeter, but seems like around 45-50. I took my phone with me one time, and got around 850 fpm. Verner, 42 hp.
