Ok, got the 10 deg cut on the top of front spars, sanded and scraped excess glue off. weighed all 4.
                       L             R
Front spars- 6.86lbs    6.57
Rear           - 5.14        5.41
total           - 12.00lbs 11.98lbs

Boy I got lucky. cant get much closer, but interesting how much difference(around .30lbs) in the pairs.

Keep in mind my XL is more of a Medium. I've reduced the span from 154" to 138" per. this gives a LEU span with XL size caps. so these will be a bit lighter than common XL spars.

Excellent Frank,
Can’t ask for anything more or better on how you did your measurements or the accuracy in which you did so. Outstanding!   It is calculations like these that allow progress in any type of build.  In this case, are we pretty consistent from side to side- A sound YES.

thanks

One more tonight :)
I decided to build a gas tank from aluminum with proseal and rivets. Not quite sure how it will work out yet but I decided to attach it by making the top of the tank form the top wing at the inboard wing bay. There were mods done to the ribs to accept screws for attachment and to reinforce for fabric. basically doubled the ribs inboard one bay. If all goes according to plans(Yeah Right) i'll be able to drop in the tank and screw it down on the top of the wing after fabric. The extra parts were weighed before installation and this adds 0.40lbs. the tank has been drawn out on paper and best guess, some math included, it'll be 3+lbs. In the event i have to go and get an N number each wing will be built to accommodate a tank.

Hey Hugh,
You got it all wrong. 8)   I have AC and heat in the shop. It's a toasty 67 degrees inside today while the wind is blowin 25kts and 35 deg outside.

But i can say wont be any welding in there, sawdust gets knee deep when im cuttin a big prop. Plannin on starting the fuse in the hanger by April when the weather is perfect!

Wow - and I thought I was just suppose to suffer out there - I will take your advice on the Shop, just not real sure how the wife is going to take it with me relocating the AC and Heat out there.
