Departures from the plans (Elevator)
« on: January 10, 2025, 12:12:34 PM »
Have been looking at the elevator control cables lately and not really liking how the up cable goes over the horizontal stabilizer.  Perhaps someone's pictures, something besides just the plans, would set my senses at ease.  Anyway I got to wondering if I could come up with a simple & safe mod so that both cables would be below the horizontal.  Has anyone tried this?

Below is just one idea.  Wraping it around station-5 tube was another but I couldn't figure out how to smoothly guide it, especially since the rudder leaves little space to work with.

If you route the cables correctly, they don't go over any of the horizontal stabilizer. They go in the space between the H. Stab halves. Hope you don't mind the photo, Chuck.

Ha Ha.  I don't know sometimes how I can miss the obvious!  Thanks.
But in my defense, I was looking at that large gap between the horizontals and thinking it might be nice to remove some drag and close that up,  Would look better too.  Oh well, as they say..."stick to the plans".
