Spark plug wires

I did a search but it came up short. What is the best spark plug wire solution? Make it yourself or a set for a bug? Solid core or resistance?

Make your own resistance wires. MSD spiral core wire (50-ohm per foot or 500-ohm per foot) is available (Summit Racing) by the foot and TON brand is available on eBay (500-ohms per foot). You can buy several end configurations as separate items. Cut to length, add the ends, and run 'em. The spiral wound resistance wire is very reliable. Don't use the carbon coated string type made for a few stock automobiles. I have a set of MSD & TON wires on my dual ignition 1/2 VW.

I'm going to be running the second set of plugs with a dyna coil for Harley Davidson. Sort of similar. The dyna doesn't run a separate brain for control. It just has two wires to the dual coil module.  My 45 came with all the options. ( i bought it used with 50 hours.) It is tempting to take it all off and simplify the configuration but I'll try to make it work on the test stand first. It's got dual plugs, starter, flywheel with alternator and a magneto. It was originally on a hummelbird. The gentleman that had it had his canopy detatch in flight. He said that was enough for him so he decommissioned the airplane and sold off the parts.

I haven't drilled my heads for the second ignition yet, so my latest break-in test runs were with my programmable CDI ignition and Buick coil. Engine starts on third pull. CDI is French unit (Transmic.fr) that works similar to Leeburg. I can program my advance curve with a smartphone to whatever I like. Seems to work quite well. I haven't run engine over 2,500 rpm yet but will as soon as weather warms up. Using Champion extended nose plugs that seem to start easier than the standard Bosch or NGK units. Haven't messed with Mikuni jets yet but will after I get 10 hours on engine. My Mikuni VM26-8074 carbs came with 190 main jets.

Looking at your heads. That's a good solution for the intake. It should be just fine for flow. What hp is your configuration supposed to put out?

92mm bore, 78mm stroke, 37 hp is what most people rate this size engine. Mine has relieved combustion chambers, a non-stock camshaft, and higher compression than most 1/2 VW's (8.2:1). Once I get it broken in, I'll test the hp with a "wood bar dyno" club prop that is supposed to be able to show actual hp. I'm very curious to see what RPM the club prop will turn.
