XL-58 Moonrise
« on: May 14, 2014, 06:35:36 AM »
Dusk came early as the sun slid behind a cloud bank. But a gorgeous full moon arose in the eastern sky as XL-58 completed the final flight of the day:

It was cool landing with the runway lights and airport beacon lit. The camera lens opened up and made the view appear lighter than it actually was so the lights aren't as bright as they appeared at the time. This was still a legal flight because it was completed before official sundown.

Y'all keep building your little planes!  :)

(b) Notwithstanding paragraph (a) of this section, ultralight vehicles may be operated during the twilight periods 30 minutes before official sunrise and 30 minutes after official sunset or, in Alaska, during the period of civil twilight as defined in the Air Almanac, if:
Quote
(1) The vehicle is equipped with an operating anticollision light visible for at least 3 statute miles; and
(2) All operations are conducted in uncontrolled airspace.

I don't see no anticollision light on your vehicle, Sam-olito

Nice try, Bob, but you obviously didn't read my post. I stated that sunset had not yet occurred when the flight was completed.

Bob, I'm not sure what you are implying with your comments, but for the record I went back and checked the time stamp on the camera:

Sunset at my location; 7:42pm

End of camera recording; 7:33 pm
