EIS
« on: July 07, 2014, 06:21:48 PM »
Got in a new GRT EIS4000 for this new thang I been building on. Unpacked it today gonna hook it up...man I never saw so many warus. I'll never get all those in the right place. Weasel how bout you come over here and hookup this thing  for me.

I knew I didn't like glass...

Kiblinger named it the SS-1. That's for Spencer Special #1. Not very original or catchy. I resisted for a long time thinking something better would stick to it but had to get the registration done which came in today. It's the SS-1, seriel #1. I knew yall would be just thrilled to know that.

Hey Steedman you remember the time you took your keyboard away from yourself and went into exile after you said something stupid that embarrassed you? I liked that one it was good, still think about it back there in the shop fooling around. I think I asked you if you were contemplating self mutilation. I've said some stupid stuff too but got over being embarrassed some time ago...

I've been wondering about Dean lately. Dean are you out there lurking?

It's really picked me up that Steedman's back. And Utt crashed. And Thoum dissed  2 airline captains on the list. Much better...

GRT EIS4000

Old school!!!
Wasn't that the Spencer lecture?
If I was smart enough to find it in the archives, I'd show ya.
And now you got more wares than you know what to do with?
Did you convert and get an ipad?
GPS autopilot too?
First hint, too many wares then it not old school.
I expect more from someone with their own sign lady.
I sure liked the putt putt videos and the one landing on the bridge was inspiring.
SS1 sounds good since USS Minnow was taken.
Ahh Mississippi in July, time to pay for mild winter.

Jim

Spencer,

I am shocked that you went with glass. I guess the Airbus wore off a little more on ya than you'll admit .  Yeah I know the real reason. Weight savings. I gotta admit it's a lot lighter that the steam gauges but man, didn't think you'd turn in to a techy kinda guy.. Just kidding.
Brother Tim got a GRT EIS last year and he and a friend have been putting in a new panel with the new  GRT. It looks pretty darn good with new layout  and considerably lighter too.

SS-1   AWESOME

I'm shocked too. I dont like the thing atall. And thats not the worst of it. Lookit dis...

http://www.grtavionics.com/mini.html

I didnt want that one either. But its on back order from spruce should be here in a couple weeks. You're right Scott...weight and simplicity. I got all these old gages laying around here the old school stuff that i really wanted. but when you start planning all that stuff and having to way increase the panel size and adding up the weight the new stuff makes sense. those are the only 2 gages on the panel. But the idea of it still gags me no end. its hard to swallow...glass. Ratsass...here we got a definitely old school plane straight outa the 30s and its got glass. And my reputation is shot too. At least the EIS is an old design monitor that looks dated. But that FMS is the latest miniaturized tech. Arrrggh...

Jim i been wondering about you too. I figgered the feds finally came and got you man. I agree with most everything you and Scott said. It's hard to be Old School these days. It really does bug me that tech stuff is going in this plane. Seriously. But the weight...

Thanks guys

At least you went with serial #1, and not #0001.  That would have been too techie.

I'll never get all those in the right place. Weasel how bout you come over here and hookup this thing  for me.

You get the unit mounted in the dash?  Put all your sensors on the motor and get your power and ground ready.

I can work it in the rest should be easy.  I might can trip over there and see what I can do.

We just got that new addition the other day and kinda been busy here. Name is Delta Joy.

Weasel may have started something

Here's son Phillip and grandson Strick in the SS-1. Strick is making motor noises and jamming the throttle to the firewall. Looks like he may be a natural
